Terms of Service

By downloading, installing, registering for, or using the FamilyShield mobile application ("App") operated by FamilyShield Safety Technologies Inc. ("Company", "we", "us", or "our"), you enter into a legally binding agreement to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms").

If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the App and should uninstall it immediately.

FamilyShield provides software tools for call risk awareness, unknown caller threat labeling, family safety coordination, emergency safe-word verification, and scam report filing.

2.1 Safety Assistance Tool (Not Emergency Services)

FamilyShield is an informational safety assistance application. It is NOT a substitute for emergency dispatch services (such as 911), law enforcement agencies, financial fraud departments, or professional legal counsel.

2.2 Non-Interception of Emergency Calls

FamilyShield is designed to never block, filter, delay, or interfere with outgoing calls to emergency numbers (e.g., 911, 999, 112).

To create an account and use FamilyShield, you must meet the following requirements:

• You must be at least 18 years of age or possess legal parental/guardian consent to enter into these Terms.
• You must provide accurate, current, and complete registration information.
• You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials and device access.
• You must promptly notify us at support@familyshield.app if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

FamilyShield allows accounts to pair for safety coordination (e.g., Parent and Protected Member):

• You must obtain explicit permission from any individual before sending a pairing invitation or linking their account.
• You must not share pairing QR codes or 6-digit verification keys with unauthorized third parties.
• You agree that linked family members will receive safety alerts regarding high-risk call events detected on your device as configured by your settings.

You agree to use FamilyShield solely for legitimate personal and family protection purposes. You shall NOT:

• Use the App for illegal surveillance, stalking, harassment, or unauthorized tracking.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App.
• Interfere with or disrupt backend servers, APIs, or database operations.
• Submit false scam reports, deceptive support claims, or malicious data.
• Impersonate another individual, family member, or company representative.
• Circumvent Row-Level Security (RLS) policies or access data belonging to another user.

FamilyShield utilizes edge threat analysis and pattern detection algorithms to calculate caller risk levels:

6.1 Risk Indicators are Informational Only

Risk scores (e.g., "Safe", "Suspicious", "High Risk") are probabilistic indicators. A risk label does NOT guarantee that a caller is malicious, nor does a "Safe" label guarantee that a caller is legitimate.

6.2 Caller-ID Spoofing Limitations

Scammers frequently spoof legitimate phone numbers (including bank or government numbers). FamilyShield helps detect spoofing signals but cannot guarantee detection of all spoofed calls.

6.3 User Independent Verification

You should independently verify any caller requesting sensitive information, money transfers, passwords, or personal credentials through official, published channels.

When you submit support requests, scam reports, or feature suggestions to FamilyShield:

• You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use feedback to improve our risk algorithms and software.
• You warrant that your submitted content does not violate third-party rights or laws.
• We reserve the right to remove any report deemed abusive, fraudulent, or inaccurate.

All rights, title, and interest in and to FamilyShield—including software code, threat detection algorithms, UI designs, logos, trademarks, and documentation—are the exclusive property of FamilyShield Safety Technologies Inc.. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App for personal use.

The App relies on third-party services for cloud database hosting (Supabase) and push notifications (Firebase). Your use of third-party services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

We strive to maintain continuous availability of FamilyShield services. However, we do not guarantee uninterrupted uptime. We reserve the right to modify, update, suspend, or discontinue features of the App at any time without prior liability.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, FAMILYSHIELD IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL PREVENT FINANCIAL LOSS, SCAMS, IMPERSONATION, OR UNLAWFUL ACTS BY THIRD PARTIES.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL FAMILYSHIELD SAFETY TECHNOLOGIES INC., ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR FINANCIAL FUNDS RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless FamilyShield Safety Technologies Inc. from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of your violation of these Terms or misuse of the App.

You may terminate these Terms at any time by deleting your account via Shield Settings -> Account Session and uninstalling the App. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access for violations of these Terms.

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, United States.

We may modify these Terms at any time. Updated terms will be posted in the App with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App following changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
